Based in both Brighton and London, our Direct Access Barristers have a reputation for excellence in their advocacy and advisory work in Civil, Criminal and Family Law. Our qualified, experienced mediators are also able to mediate or represent you to resolve litigation quickly.
Direct Access, also known as Public Access, is the name given by the Bar Council to the scheme where anyone – members of the public, firms, companies – can directly instruct specially trained barristers without the use of a solicitor in accordance with the Bar Council’s Public Access rules.
The Public Access Guidance for Lay Clients is available on the Bar Standards Board website here. You can also review a list of all authorised barristers on the Bar Council’s Direct Access Portal here.
Mediation is an informal, flexible and cost effective process which is entirely confidential and ‘without prejudice’. It has a high success rate.
Where successful, it produces a settlement which both parties agree to rather than being imposed by a court, avoids the delays and emotional expense of litigation, removes the risks of litigation and it can help restore business and personal relationships that might otherwise be undermined by the tensions of litigation. It can be arranged, and concluded, quickly. Our service is convenient, flexible and economic.
There are many advantages to mediation:

Each case is unique so, once we have more information about your case, we will be able to give you a clear estimate of your costs.
All fees quoted can change depending on the requirements of the case and any changes will be discussed in advance. Workload, illness, availability and unforeseeable external factors might influence timescales and costs of your case as all barristers undertake professional work personally.
An overview of our costs is available here but is only an overview, not an estimate tailored to your case.
Upon receiving this enquiry form a Direct Access Clerk will contact you to discuss your case in further detail. They will be able to give you an accurate idea of costs and factors affecting timescale.
